Are you staying at the Loft du Renard with your baby and want to get some fresh air without going on a long hike?

Good news: just a few minutes from the cottage, several walks allow you to enjoy nature, the Meuse river or the landscapes of Namur with a stroller.

Here are three easy family outing ideas that we like to recommend to our young travelling parents.

🌳 1. Le Bois de la Vecquée – approximately 3 km / 5 minutes by car

For a quiet walk in the shade of the trees, the Bois de la Vecquée is a lovely option.

About 3 km from the Fox Loft , you can quickly reach this vast wooded area which allows you to fully enjoy nature.

🚗 Where to park?

You can reach the car park at Bois de la Vecquée, and access the forest paths directly.

👶 With a stroller

For a walk with a baby, choose the main paths in the woods , which are wider and more regular. The small paths that lead into the woods are more suitable for a walk.

The idea is not necessarily to follow a precise route: you can simply walk calmly under the trees, enjoy the peace and quiet and turn around whenever you want.

🐿️ Keep your eyes peeled!

The forest is also a lovely observation area for children...

A very simple outing, but one that already allows you to rediscover that feeling of nature which is part of the spirit of the Fox's Loft .

🌿 2. The RAVeL along the Meuse River – approximately 2 km / 5 minutes by car

Fancy an easy and flat walk? Head to the RAVeL along the Meuse , just a few minutes from the cottage.

🚗 Where to park?

You can go to the Chaussée de Dinant area and look for a parking space near the banks of the Meuse.

👶 An easy walk with baby

The route is flat and easy, with a smooth surface that allows for comfortable movement with a stroller.

You can head off in one direction, walk leisurely along the water's edge for 20, 30, or 45 minutes… then turn back. No need to plan a long hike!

As you walk, you will discover the Mosan villas , the Meuse river, the barges and lovely views of the valley as well as the castle of Dave .

🦊 A little nod to the Fox's Loft

During your walk, you can also meet Gérard, the Fox of Kalbut, an amazing sculpture installed at the edge of the path.

🍦 And why not a little gourmet break?

After the walk, you can take a break at Fleur de Lait and enjoy some delicious homemade ice cream.

A perfect outing when travelling with a toddler: short journey, no elevation gain and everyone can go at their own pace.

🏰 3. The Citadel of Namur – approximately 8 km / 12 minutes by car

For a complete change of scenery, head to the Citadel of Namur , located about 8 km from the Loft du Renard .

With a stroller, our advice is simple: drive directly to the Esplanade , rather than starting from the city centre.

You can park on the heights of the Citadel, at the Esplanade

This puts you directly in the heart of the site and allows you to begin your walk without the stress of parking.

👶 A walk between nature and panoramic views

From the Esplanade, you can stroll peacefully in the outdoor spaces of the Citadel or enter the site and enjoy magnificent views of Namur, the Sambre and the Meuse .

The Terra Nova Visitor Centre is also located on the Citadel and can be a useful landmark when visiting with a young child.

🚡 And why not a little trip on a cable car?

If you would like to add a little experience to your walk, you can go to the cable car station located on the Citadel and descend to the historic centre of Namur.

Good news for parents: strollers are allowed on board. The journey takes approximately 7 minutes and offers a beautiful view of the city, the Sambre and the Meuse rivers.

You can then return by the same means and easily find your car at the Esplanade.

A little adventure that can make the outing even more fun for older children… and allows parents to discover Namur in a different way. 🌿

🦊 Three outings, three different vibes

What we like about these three walks is that they allow us to vary the pleasures without spending a lot of time in the car :

🌳 The Bois de la Vecquée for freshness and forest atmosphere.

🌿 The RAVeL along the Meuse river for a completely flat walk with baby.

🏰 The Citadel of Namur for the views and a little exploration of the city.

And after the walk, at the Fox Loft you will find the calm of our wooded environment and everything you need to comfortably welcome your baby: baby bed, high chair, changing table, baby bath, towel cape and some games .

Because with a toddler, the best days are sometimes the simplest: a short walk, a discovery, a gourmet break… then the pleasure of finding a quiet place to settle down.

The cottage also has essential everyday equipment such as a washing machine, a tumble dryer and a fully equipped kitchen for easily preparing meals and baby bottles.
